flame test is an analytic procedure used in chemistry to detect the presence of certain elements, primarily metal ions, based on each element's characteristic emission spectrum. Most of the students of chemistry may have seen it in laboratories.

The colour of the flame for metals are --

Gold - Yellow
Silver - white
Copper - blue
Wrought Iron - black
Tin - ash colour 
Lead - dirty fire colour
Pure iron - ash
Mica - brown
Diamond - many colours
Kkasattva - pale white
