Circumference of the earth

Let's have a look on one more bright example of Indian astronomical genius in the Vedic era (approx. 8000 ago) i.e the discovery of the circumference of the earth.

Let us have a look on the slokha given below which is from Suryasidhanth madhyamadhikarah -59 and its translations.

The radius of the earth is 800 yojanas. The circumference of the earth is the result of multiplication of the earth of its radius with 2 and square root of 1024056 or 326 × 104  danda.

The value for the circumference of the earth is 4.008 × 107 meters.
(One danda is equal to 1.24 meters approximately)
